Wedding Signage | The Welcome Sign and The Table Plan

The wedding Signage these sometimes forgotten pieces set the scene for stunning wedding decor.

Here I've summarised some useful tips (from what I experienced as a bride to be and as calligrapher) when preparing a seating chart.

1. Once you have all the RSVP's ready, the next step is to inform the venue on your numbers, decide how many tables you're going to have and most importantly who gets to sit beside "Great Auntie Lily "  This task may seem simple, but it can take a lot of time.

2. So to make life a little easier make a draft of the table plan, this is very useful to visualise how your guests will be sitting, and to see if the table will have the right mix. We find that writing the names in pencil is great to re-arrange everyone as many times as necessary.

3. Organize the top table first and then the closest tables an so on... Take into account any special needs and who should be sitting at the more accessible tables or closest to the 'loo', especially if there are children at the evening reception.

6. Keep in mind that the shape of the table can play an important role, what best suits the number of guests and the type of environment you want to achieve? The rectangular tables give a more familiar dining sensation while the round ones allow everyone at the table to interact more freely.

4. Ask your parents to help you sit their friends, especially if you have a significant number of guests and don't know some of them, which happens a lot.

7. Last but not least if you're planning to have bespoke signage for your special day, booking this service with plenty of time is crucial, I usually ask for at least six months before the big day to ensure availability and that everything runs smoothly.
